During the literacy block of our day we focus on a lot of things. We read two books together, practice our alphabet, work with our letter of the week, practice our vocabulary, write in our Kindergarten Notebooks, and work in small groups in our literacy centers. I am working with small reading groups during our literacy centers. Three days a week I meed with two groups a day, and two days a week I meet with just one group a day. Also at this time Mr. Ingersoll, our ELL teacher is in our classroom working with small reading groups and helping with our letter of the week and vocabulary words.

Some things you can work on at home as part of your daily homework:
*Sight word flash cards
*Upper case and lower case letters
(Sort Upper case letters, sort Lower case letters, match Lower case letters with Uppercase letters, Letter recognition practice letter sounds, or make words with the cut out letters)
*Writing your name first and last
*Reading and sounding out short words.
