Mrs. Lang

Hello and welcome to Cherokee Heights, Fifth and Sixth Grade.  I am Kelly Lang and I am thrilled to be teaching and learning with fifth and sixth graders this year.  This is my third year teaching at Cherokee and I continue to enjoy the energy and support I receive from families, staff and the community.   I have a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education from Minnesota State University, Moorhead and am currently working on my masters in Urban Education through Hamline University in St. Paul.   I believe that a positive classroom and school

community is essential to creating an environment where students feel safe to take risks and become successful.  I look forward to collaborating with families, students and staff to give our kids the best possible education they could hope for.  Please feel free to visit our classroom anytime.  We look forward to seeing you!

Look for future updates to our site as the year progresses.

Image Gallery: Culture Bags
Part of a having a culturally responsive classroom and curriculum is acknowledging and learning to respect each persons specific culture. We begin to accomplish this by having students bring in a culture bag, within is 5-10 objects that describe them as people and display how their culture helps to shape their identity. Students then share their bags in small groups and the rest of the group makes a positive comment about each of their classmate's culture.
