Dear Parents and Friends,
I am very excited to begin my new position at Cherokee Heights this year as a reading intervention teacher. I will be serving students in grades Kindergarten through third grade who need an extra boost on their reading skills. I will be working closely with classroom teachers to identify and serve students during their scheduled reading times. Reading intervention is designed to provide help to students who are struggling to acquire or maintain reading skills. It is a supplement to the good classroom teaching that is already occurring at Cherokee Heights.
This is my second year at Cherokee Heights. I live on the West side with my husband, Ed, and son, Jeremy. It is wonderful to teach in the community where I live. My background is that I have been a classroom teacher for many years and recently completed training in reading procedures designed to meet the needs of students who are not catching on to the set of concepts that make a successful reader.
