Welcome to Cherokee Heights!

Our school celebrates and encourages entire families to become involved in their children’s education. Exciting academic challenges inspire the whole school and every student to engage in learning. Our dedicated staff supports and encourages every student to achieve success. Cherokee is also proud of its partnership with local businesses, such as Travelers and Ecolab - providing art and theatre experiences including Taiko drumming, spoken word, and hip hop dancing.

Now Offering Montessori

Our new Montessori program serves all-day PreK-kindergarten and will add first grade in fall 2016. Call 651.293.8610 to arrange a tour of our beautiful new classroom or apply for enrollment here.

Academic Achievement Awards

Cherokee is proudly hosting an Academic Achievement Awards Breakfast and Assembly each month to recognize students who have demonstrated notable progress in learning growth, responsibility and attendance. Students are nominated for the award by classroom teachers and are joined by their families as they celebrate their accomplishments.

Cherokee Student Musicians

Students from Cherokee's Extended Day Learning music class shared their new vocal and violin skills at the El Sistema Minnesota Benefit Concert this month. They were joined in the performance by student musicians from Battle Creek Elementary and the Minnesota Youth Symphony (MYS).

Reaching Out to Neighbors

Students from several classes at Cherokee made May Day baskets and delivered them throughout the school neighborhood. The May Day basket tradition involves filling small homemade basekts with flowers or treats and leaving them for friends and neighbors to find on their doorstep as a happy springtime surprise.

Our Principal

Communication and collaboration are key ingredients to the success of our students. Our teachers use a variety of formats, such as newsletters, notes, phone calls, email, and conferences, to keep you informed about your child’s progress and classroom happenings. Please check your child’s backpack often so that you do not miss out on important news. - Melisa Rivera
